Want to be an MMHF Gala beneficiary?

The Manitoba Metis Heritage Fund Inc.’s mission is to support the citizens of the Manitoba Metis Community by raising charitable funds in order to enhance their lives.  This support includes the delivery of programs and services such as housing, youth, education, human resources, and economic development.

The purpose of the Manitoba Metis Heritage Fund Inc. fundraising event is to provide support to third party beneficiaries and qualified donees who wish to advance our Mission through their programs and services.  Our Request for Proposals (issued shortly after every gala fundraiser) is a means to assist community leaders and residents, including community-based grassroots organizations, in using funds to develop or advance programs and services that meet the Manitoba Metis Heritage Fund Inc. purposes.

Priority ranking and funding eligibiltiy is given to non-profit organizations that support more than one purpose outlined below.

To relieve poverty by providing basic amenities and counselling assistance to economically disadvantaged Metis people and families

To advance education by providing independently and/or in conjunction with other qualified donees, scholarships, skills and vocational training.  And other academic programs and educational materials, for the benefit of economically disadvantaged Metis people

 

To educate the public on the history, customs, traditions and language of the Metis people

 

To benefit the community by providing education, counselling, wellness programs and support services to Aboriginal people;

 

To gift funds to qualified donees as defined in subsection 149.1(1) of the Income Tax Act.

The applicant organization must have a governing Board of Directors and an Executive Director who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization. Applicants must be in good financial standing and must have the appropriate organizational capabilities to receive and administer funds raised.

What should we include in our application?

1. Cover sheet on your organizational letterhead that includes all relevant contact information for your organization, including but not limited to, the name of the contact person and their phone and fax number, and a brief, concise summary of your proposed initiative.

2. Proposal (no more than ten (10) one-side, single-spaced pages) that includes the following:

Detailed information on the initiative and how it relates to one or more of the Manitoba Metis Heritage Fund Inc.’s purposes outlined above

initiative goals and objectives (describe your initiatives primary objectives, and how your being a recipient of the Metis Heritage Fund Inc.’s fundraising event will assist in the initiative or solve your problem )

 

Target population (describe the population served by the proposed initiative)

Staff responsible for your proposed initiative

3. Your organization's qualifications, including your organization's background, primary mission, and history.

4. Appendices (include the following as attachments):

Certificate of Incorporation and By-Laws

List of Staff, Officers and Board of Directors

Latest Annual Audited Financial Statements and Current General Operating Budget

List of other current funding sources and uses. Current Annual Report (if available)
